Weezer rocker Scott Shriner put on a brave face for the media after the news this week that his wife Jillian had been shot by police and charged with attempted murder in chaotic scenes outside their Los Angeles home.
The legendary bassist was spotted by waiting media walking his four dogs outside their LA home, and was asked how his wife was doing following her dramatic shootout with police.
“She’s alright, thank you for asking,” he told a journalist from The New York Post.
“See you at Coachella!”
Earlier this week, Island in the Sun rockers Weezer announced they’d be playing at the huge Californian music festival this year.
There was no sign of Shriner’s wife, best-selling author Jillian, who was shot during a traffic chase in Los Angeles on Tuesday afternoon, local time, and later arrested for attempted murder.
According to an Los Angeles Police Department press release, the police had responded to reports of a hit-and-run on a freeway near the neighbourhood of Eagle Rock.
Suspects involved in the crash fled the scene towards a residential area, and while police were in pursuit, Shriner allegedly came out of her home brandishing a gun at them.
LAPD say she refused to drop the weapon despite being told several times to do so, and instead pointed it at them.
They opened fire, shooting her, and she then ran back into her home. She later re-emerged with another woman, identified as the couple’s babysitter, and was taken into custody and treated by paramedics for her non-life-threatening injury.
TMZ later reported that she had been shot in the shoulder.
Jillian is a New York Times Bestselling author who has written books including 2010’s Some Girls: My Life in a Harem and 2023’s Behold the Monster: Confronting America’s Most Prolific Serial Killer.
She married longtime Weezer bassist Scott 20 years ago, and the pair have two adopted children together.
She revealed on social media just weeks before the dramatic police incident that she had been diagnosed with cancer.
“Yes, I have a little bit of the C word y’all,” she wrote on social media, along with a photo of herself in a hospital bed. “I know a lot of us do.”
In the post, she thanked doctors for completing her “complicated operation without a hitch.”
“I am always so grateful for every second of the compassionate, and excellent medical care I receive in my life,” she wrote. “Thank you to all the remarkable health care workers, who take our lives in your hands. And let’s all breathe.”
On March 22, she gave her followers another health update, revealing she had undergone a full hysterectomy.
“I feel called upon to mention it, because I know only two people who had this procedure and neither is with us today,” she shared. “They weren’t here for me to call, and ask what to expect. I’m saying: I’m here. Ask me. I’m okay and healing today.”
