Beverly Hills, 90210 star Shannen Doherty was seen smiling with friends in the last photos taken of her in public before her death.

The Beverly Hills, 90210 star was photographed with her longtime friend Chris Cortazzo and a female friend on June 16 as they walked out of Kristy’s waterfront restaurant in Malibu, California.

The trio appeared to be in high spirits as they enjoyed each other’s company. Cortazzo even had an arm wrapped around Doherty.

The actress wore flared jeans and an oversized button-down T-shirt paired with a black newsboy cap. She carried a brown paper bag in her arms.

Doherty died at the age of 53 after a years-long battle with cancer.

She was first diagnosed with breast cancer in March 2015 and publicly speculated she had five years left to live after it metastasised to her lymph nodes.

However, in April 2017, she announced she was in remission.

Less than three years later, in February 2020, the Charmed star revealed the cancer had returned at stage 4. It then metastasised to her brain and, earlier this year, to her bones.

Doherty was candid about her health and mindset over the years and in April revealed she was preparing for death by going through her belongings — and even packing up her Tennessee home — to make things “a lot easier” for her mum.

While she was mentally preparing herself and her family for the worst, she said in November 2023 that she felt she had plenty of life left to live.

“I’m not done with living, I’m not done with loving, I’m not done with creating, I’m not done with, hopefully, changing things for the better,” she told People at the time.

Doherty is best known for playing Brenda Walsh in the teen drama Beverly Hills, 90210.

In the June 25 episode of her Let’s Be Clear podcast, she said she was “hopeful” about her cancer treatment plan.

“The positivity is that because my molecular structure of my cancer cells changed recently, it means there’s a lot more protocols for me to try,” she explained.

The self-described “cancer slayer” is survived by her mother, Rosa Elizabeth Doherty, and her brother, Sean Doherty.

She did not have any children and was going through a tense divorce from her third husband, Kurt Iswarienko, when she passed.
