‘Public lynching’: Mother of Sean ‘Diddy’ Combs hits out at ‘lies’

The mother of disgraced music mogul Sean “Diddy” Combs has spoken out amid horrific allegations of sex trafficking and abuse.

NEWS OF THE WEEK: Sean 'Diddy' Combs reportedly no longer on suicide watch

The mother of disgraced music mogul Sean “Diddy” Combs has defended the star as he faces trial for sex trafficking and racketeering, saying he has been subjected to a “public lynching”.

In a statement shared by her legal team with The New York Post, Janice Combs said the rapper deserved to “have his day in court”.

“It is heartbreaking to see my son judged not for the truth, but for a narrative created out of lies,” she said in the statement.

“To bear witness what seems to be like a public lynching of my son before he has had the opportunity to prove his innocence is a pain too unbearable to put into words. Like every human being, my son deserves to have his day in court, to finally share his side, and to prove his innocence.”

Janice also seemingly referenced the horrifying surveillance footage that showed Combs beating his ex-girlfriend, Cassie, at a hotel in 2016.

“I am not here to portray my son as perfect because he is not. He has made mistakes in his past, as we all have,” she said.

“My son may not have been entirely truthful about certain things, such as denying he has ever gotten violent with an ex-girlfriend when the hotel’s surveillance showed otherwise.”

Janice also condemned how the father of seven had been portrayed.

“My son is not the monster they have painted him to be, and he deserves the chance to tell his side. I can only pray that I am alive to see him speak his truth and be vindicated,” she said.

Janice, 84, was admitted to hospital last July after suffering chest pains, which family members put down to stress over her son’s legal ordeal.

The Harlem-born music star is famously close to his mother, who raised him and his sister, Keisha, as a single mother after their father, Melvin Combs, was murdered in 1983 during a drug deal.

LAWYER CLAIMS A-LISTERS ON SEX TAPES

It comes after a lawyer who represented one of Combs’ accusers claimed she had been told about the existence of sex tapes featuring the fallen star and three A-list celebrities .

“The individuals who contacted me purported to have three different tapes with three different celebrities, including Diddy, and then a fourth celebrity without Diddy but in a compromising situation with someone,” lawyer Ariel Mitchell-Kidd alleged during an interview in the US.

According to a report in the New York Post, Ms Mitchell-Kidd stated that it is believed the person in the alleged fourth tape was recorded at one of Combs’ homes, and said the other three individuals were reportedly “A-list celebrities”.

The lawyer said however, that she “has not seen” some of the tapes in question or their stills.

“I can’t attest to whether or not they exist or not,” she stated.

“I just was told initially that ‘they’ own this treasure trove of videos, so I have to believe that there are a lot of celebrities who know what they did ….”

Ms Mitchell-Kidd was the lawyer for former model Adria English, who sued Combs for sex trafficking in July, claiming he once “forced sexual intercourse” with a high profile Hollywood jeweller.

She also claimed in the suit that she was then expected to be “passed off” to other people.

Ms Mitchell-Kidd, however, recently dropped English as a client.

Per court documents filed last week and obtained by USA Today, the lawyer cited “a breakdown in the lawyer-client relationship” and “irreconcilable differences” as the reason for why she ceased representing Ms English.

Ms Mitchell-Kidd’s most recent claims about there being multiple sex tapes involving Combs was seemingly corroborated by a Department of Homeland Security officer.

The official, who took part in the raids on Combs’ Miami home in March told The New York Post, “There are recognisable names [in footage we obtained], but I won’t confirm any of their identities. But it’s more than just that one.”

The officer would not confirm whether any of the names are A-listers, however, it’s been widely reportedly that an explicit video allegedly containing a star even “more high profile” than Combs is being shopped around.

A source reportedly told The New York Post that the male celebrity is “horrified” over the situation, with an insider stating, “It feels like a betrayal and a violation, and it’s causing a lot of issues.”

“It brings up some really disturbing and bad memories,” the source continued.

“He feels like he was victimised years ago and is now being victimised yet again. If this footage gets out, it will follow him for life. It will be on the internet forever.”

Lawyer Tony Buzbee also claimed in a press conference last week that “many powerful people” are tied to Combs’ alleged crimes and the big names will “shock” the public.

Combs has denied any wrongdoing in his ongoing sex crimes scandal.
