Conflicting claims over where Prince Harry and Meghan Markle will spend Christmas have sparked confusion as the pair are now believed to be seeking to reconcile with King Charles.
Despite the strained relations between the Sussexes and the royals, which have been worsened by the release of Omid Scobie’s explosive book Endgame, the Sussexes may be invited to Sandringham afterall.
According to The Express, the pair have received an invite to the traditional royal Sandringham lunch and are keen to make peace with the monarch as part of their new “reconciliation strategy”.
Meanwhile, The Sun is reporting that the Sussexes are still firmly on the outer with the royals and will be staying in California with their children Archie and Lilibet.
King Charles will instead spend the day at Sandringham with other senior royals – along with Queen Camilla’s children and grandchildren, it is claimed.
It comes after over a year of drama and explosive “truth bombs” hurled at the royals by the US-based couple.
Hopes relations between Harry and the royal family would be improved were revealed when he broke six months of silence to call Charles and wish him a happy birthday.
Charles is also understood to have spoken with his daughter-in-law during the call in November.
And last month a source told the Telegraph that the Duke and Duchess of Sussex would be “highly unlikely” to turn down an invitation to Sandringham.
But since then, Omid Scobie’s explosive book Endgame, which included a string of revelations about the royal family, was released.
Early copies of the book’s Dutch edition suggested Charles and Princess Catherine were the two royals who had allegedly made remarks about the skin colour of the Sussexes’ first child, Archie.
Scobie admitted that an “early and uncleared” draft was given to translators in the Netherlands – but he still tried to deny responsibility.
He also previously refused to say sorry for the storm adding: “It’s not for me to apologise because I still want to know what’s happened.”
According to The Sun, it’s not known if Prince Harry has spoken to his family since the explosive claims were shared.
Meanwhile, it is believed members of Queen Camilla’s family have been invited to Sandringham for Christmas.
Camilla’s family includes her son, Tom and daughter, Laura while her grandchildren include Lola, Eliza, Louis, Gus and Freddy.
Harry and Meghan last spent Christmas at the Norfolk estate in 2018, when they were dubbed the “Fab Four” along with Prince William and Catherine.
The Queen showed her grandmotherly devotion in May by stitching her grandchildren’s names into her Coronation dress.
Charles is also thought to be very close to his wife’s side of the family.
