B105 has reclaimed top spot in Brisbane’s radio ratings, securing its position as the city’s number one station.
The triumphant return comes after the station recorded consecutive survey wins at the end of 2022 before being briefly dethroned by Nova 106.9 in 2023’s first survey.
A delighted B105 content director Jack Ball welcomed the station‘s 12.7 per cent overall audience share across seven days and 14.1 per cent breakfast audience, suggesting the last survey result was an anomaly.
“We’re thrilled with today’s result and are forever grateful for every one of our listeners who continue to make B105 Brisbane’s number 1 radio station,” he said.
“It’s all led by the Stav, Abby and Matt team and the incredible connection they have with this city and their audience. There’s a real trend developing.
“The B105 team wakes up every morning with the goal to brighten our listener’s day and we’ll continue to deliver that. It seems to be working.”
In the closely contested breakfast radio segment, Stav, Abby & Matt’s audience share increased a whopping 1.6 points bringing them up to 14.1 per cent, beating Nova’s Ash, Luttsy and Susie with a 1.2 point buffer to regain the coveted crown.
B105 has successfully maintained its stronghold on the number one position for the afternoon slot, even as Nova experienced a let-down in their quest to secure the top afternoon spot.
This outcome follows the first full survey period since Chrissie Swan assumed the reins of the afternoon slot.
Nova 106.9 maintained a firm hold on the audience share crown for the afternoon drive session, solidifying Ricki Lee’s permanent addition to the drive time show as a successful move.
Nova still boasts the highest cumulative audience with 707,000 listeners, a 37,000 increase from the previous month’s survey.
Despite the results, Nova Group program operations director Brendan Taylor said they aren‘t deterred, and the station welcomed healthy competition.
“It is fair to say that today‘s overall results are not where we want to be and the numbers didn’t go our way this time, but the results prove Brisbane is one of the most highly competitive radio markets in the country,” he said.
“We love competition at Nova 106.9. This town is used to a two-horse race and healthy competition brings out the best in all of us. Bring on the next one!”
AM station 4BC continues to dominate with an 8.4 per cent audience share.
However, Laurel, Gary and Mark slipped to fifth place in breakfast, trailing Triple M‘s Marto and Margaux. In 4BC drive, Neil Breen experienced a 1.9 point growth in audience share, securing the sixth spot behind 4JJJ.
