B105 has ended the year as Brisbane’s radio leaders after recording consecutive survey wins.

In the final radio survey of 2022, released on Tuesday, the local station maintained its lead, again scoring the double of top station and top breakfast program through Stav, Abby & Matt.

The breakfast show had taken the mantle from FM rivals Nova 106.9 in the previous survey in November, with the station scoring the double for the first time since early 2020, prior to the pandemic.

The back-to-back win, with 13 per cent of the overall audience across seven days and 13.7 per cent of the breakfast audience share, is a big coup for B105 heading into 2023.

The result also cements the rivalry at the top with Nova, which came in second on 12.7 per cent of the overall audience, while previous breakfast leaders Ash, Luttsy & Susie also remained in second on 13.1 per cent.

The results set up a rivalry between the two networks heading into next year.

“From Stav, Matty and me, we can’t thank our listeners enough for sharing their mornings with us throughout the year,” B105 breakfast host Abby Coleman said,

“From partying with 30,000 friends at Fridayz Live together, to our inaugural Santa in the Suburbs event with Amy Shark at Eatons Hill … we can’t wait to create more memories with everyone in 2023. It’s going to be bigger and better than ever on B105.”

Meanwhile on the AM dial 4BC, which reshuffled its line up following the closure of 4KQ mid year, claimed the win across the seven-day week, pipping previous leaders 4BH by just 0.1 point.

4BH had gained some of the classic hits audience that migrated from 4KQ with successful results in recent surveys, but – in an evening out of the ratings – recorded across the board losses in audience share this survey.

With the market finding stability since this year’s shake-up, the breakfast radio wars moved back to an even FM and AM split, with Triple M and KIIS 97.3 coming in third and fourth followed by ABC Brisbane and 4BC’s Laurel, Gary & Mark, which recorded the biggest drop of 1.9 points.

The new SENQ, which took over the former 4KQ, continued to struggle to get off the mark, dropping back to just 0.2 per cent of the overall audience in a consistent figure across the board.

Triple M Brisbane retained its lead in mornings and B105 in the afternoons while Nova’s Kate, Tim & Joel extended its dominance in drive to finish out 2022.
