The boss of coffee chain Zarraffa’s has praised staff who stood up to a maskless Covid-denying bully.
The large man, wearing a T-shirt emblazoned with the words “Covid Scam!!!”, was filmed inside the Zarraffa’s outlet at Robina on the Gold Coast intimidating staff who challenged him for not wearing a mask.
“Learn the law, learn the law, learn the law,” he told the store’s female owner.
“What’s your name? I wanna film you right now for breaching my rights under the law.
“I’m going to sue you.”
The man continued berating the franchisee after she asked him to leave because he was making her staff feel uncomfortable.
Zarraffa’s managing director and founder Kenton Campbell said he was “100 per cent behind our staff”.
“From our franchise partners, right down to our junior baristas, they are out there every day just trying to make a simple cup of coffee,” he said.
“We are all just trying to follow the rules to keep us safe and we totally back our team; nobody should be treated like that.
“Ultimately it’s a condition of entry to wear a mask, the same as it’s a condition of staying open for the entire retail sector.
“I applaud our Robina franchisee for what she did, and I’m sure we’re not the only ones copping this behaviour; we feel for all staff operating under these current conditions who are all just doing their part.”
