Michelin starred chef to headline foodies heaven in Brisbane Quarter

A MICHELIN-STARRED chef will headline the retail component of the first stage of the $1 billion Brisbane Quarter development that will transform a once-neglected part of the CBD.

A MICHELIN-STARRED chef will headline the retail component of the first stage of the $1 billion Brisbane Quarter development that will transform a once neglected part of the CBD.

The Shayher Group development of the former Supreme Court site on George St will change Brisbane’s North Quay from a law-court-centric, office hub to a five-star, mixed-use entertainment district.

It will feature five-star hotel W Brisbane, a 40-level office building, and 82-level residential tower as well as a world-class, destination dining, hospitality and services precinct, currently almost 80 per cent leased, that will open in the middle of the year.

Central to Brisbane Quarter’s international-level dining offering on the podium level is an Australian-first restaurant by multi-awarded Michelin starred chef, Manjunath Mural.

The yet to be named restaurant will offer fine dining with a distinctive menu that will blend traditional Indian methods with flavours from Australia. The 788sqm space will also have a destination bar focusing on gin and American whisky blends.

In addition to W Brisbane’s hospitality offer of Three Blue Ducks restaurant, the Gambaro family will open its first CBD restaurant, Persone, in a 682sq m space on the podium level.

Other retailers signed up are the fast growing Emporium Barber, Coffee & Chocolate – which will open a store to be named Simple Life – healthy grab’n’go specialists Sandwich Chefs and rapidly expanding local bakery chain NYC Bagel Deli & Cafe.

The deals were struck by JLL’s Cameron Taudevin and Julia Davy. Other retail leases are currently being finalised across about 3800sq m of retail space.

Brisbane Quarter retail manager Karene Couchman from JLL said the project would blend fully integrated retail, entertainment, commercial and residential uses with pedestrian connections.

“The world-leading, inside-out architectural flow and shading at Brisbane Quarter is unique to this design and has already changed the look and feel of North Quay forever,” she said.

“It will be exciting to reveal the first stage of Brisbane Quarter later this year, comprising W Brisbane and the retail, hospitality and services offerings, while the remainder of the project takes shape with the commercial tower set for completion in 2019 and the residential tower in 2021.”
