HOSPITALITY king Godfrey Mantle’s plans to rejig his pub and restaurant empire has ramped up with the leasehold interests for the venues of two of his non-core Pig ‘N’ Whistle pubs going on the market.

The Mantle Hospitality Group will sell the leasehold of the Pig ‘N’ Whistles in Brunswick St, Fortitude Valley, and in the Indooroopilly Shopping Centre.

However, the Pig ‘N’ Whistle branding will remain under the ownership with the Mantle Hospitality Group, ensuring that when leaseholds are sold the venues will operate under a different name

Pub and restaurant chain Mantle Group plans to float in 2019 as it ramps up its expansion drive

CBRE Hotels’ Paul Fraser and Chloe Mason will steer the expressions of interest campaign.

The offering follows the Group’s sale late last year of the Pig ‘N’ Whistle Redbank Plains leasehold, which was acquired by Redcape Hotel Group for $11.5 million.

“While the Brunswick St and Indooroopilly assets both carry the Pig ‘N’ Whistle brand, we believe they will attract very different purchasers, given they have vastly different attributes and price points,” Ms Mason said.

The sale of the pubs comes after the Mantle Hospitality Group secured an $85 million line of credit from Asian-based alternatives manager OCP Asia to fund growth plans.

That will help the Group strategically repositions towards larger format venues, following the recent opening of its new multi-level 770-person capacity venue The Sound Garden in Fortitude Valley.

Mantle Group Hospitality’s chief executive Arj Rupesinghe said the company is looking forward to focusing on the upcoming rollout of larger scale venues in Brisbane CBD and the Gold Coast.

“The Group is looking forward to moving in a new direction this year, concentrating on our core business and offering significant new developments in Brisbane City, Sydney and the Gold Coast,” he said.

“There is an appetite in Brisbane for new world-class venues, and we can’t wait to continue adding to the ever-growing entertainment and hospitality scene.”

Several new venues from the Group are planned to open or begin construction soon in Brisbane including The Lucky Squire at the Gold Coast, The Summit at Mt Coot-tha, and 145 Eagle St.
