HOSPITALITY king Godfrey Mantle has offloaded the leasehold of one of his suburban Pig ‘N’ Whistle pubs so he can focus on his interests in the Brisbane CBD.

ASX-listed Redcape Hotel Group has secured the leasehold of the Pig ‘N’ Whistle in the Redbank Plains Town Centre for $11.5 million after a deal struck by CBRE Hotels’ Paul Fraser behalf of Mantle Group Hospitality (MGH).

Mr Mantle said the group was thrilled with what it has achieved in two years at Redbank Plains, with the design, construction, delivery and operation of a successful pub.

“Similarly, working within a thriving local community certainly aided in building a successful business, which will service the region for years to come,” he said.

“The sale comes as a result of MGH’s decision to direct its focus back to developing premium, large format food and beverage CBD venues.”

These projects include a four-level dining and entertainment venue at heritage-listed Naldham House, which was the former home of Brisbane Polo Club and turning the old Esquire restaurant tenancy at 145 Eagle St into a new outdoor riverfront food and drink establishment.

The Pig ‘N’ Whistle Redbank Plains venue occupies a 1350sq m corner site, about 12km from the Ipswich CBD.

It has a main bar, sports lounge, large bistro area, expansive outdoor dining area, multiple function spaces and a gaming room with 41 authorities.

Mr Fraser said since opening in early 2017, Pig ‘N’ Whistle Redbank Plains has built an enviable profile statewide, particularly in relation to its gaming ranking.

“It’s one of Queensland’s top 10 individually owned gaming pubs according to Max Gaming, with 41 gaming authorities providing strong underlying value, complemented by the first class fit out undertaken by MGH,” he said.
