Shoppers are showing their frustration at Kmart’s low stock levels and a website glitch which only shows items are out of stock at the very final stage of the checkout process.
Kmart expected stock levels to be replenished back in July after experiencing supply chain issues as a result of the coronavirus pandemic, but shoppers are lashing out as shelves remain empty.
Angry shoppers have taken to social media to complain.
“Your website is an absolute joke. It should show if the item is out of stock before you can add it to the cart! I’ve just added six items only to find out when I went to the cart that NONE of them are available,” one customer complained on Facebook.
“I get emails saying that you can do on the day deliveries now but I can’t find anything to order. I understand that there may a shortage of items but at least have the decency to show it and not waste our time!”

Another customer complained: “It is very annoying when you go on to the online store, add things that are apparently available in to the basket only to have them suddenly be unavailable and that is pretty much everything thing you have online. So someone needs to actually fix it so only the things that are actually available are listed.”

A disgruntled customer commented: “Disappointed that everything I try to buy from your stores online is constantly sold out. Is there going to be any improvements to online stock levels? Ninety per cent of your site is sold out online.”
Another customer said: “I have just spent over an hour putting an order together only to get to the cart to find that I can’t order any of the 20 items. There was NO indication when adding item to cart that I was unable to order. This applies to both delivery and click and collect.”
Shoppers are getting, ‘Did you forget something?’ emails when they are unable to purchase the out of stock items in their cart.

Responding to complaints online, a Kmart representative apologised to shoppers over stock delays and assured them that more products would be available in the coming weeks, adding that the store is working to resolve issues with the website.
“We are sorry about the troubles you’re having with our website,” the spokesperson told one shopper. “Our team are working on resolving the availability as we speak and make our website a more enjoyable one.”

Speaking to another disgruntled Kmart customer, the representative added: “We want to create a seamless shop for you, whether that’s via our website or visiting one of our Kmart stores.
“We’ll be sure to pass your comments on to the team about adding items to your cart and we hope you start to see an improvement online soon.”
