QLD 130MW solar farm gains gov't approval
Queensland's government has granted planning approval to one of the country's largest solar farms in the state's far north - the 130MW Clare Solar Farm being developed by FRV.
Deputy Premier Jackie Trad approved global firm FRV's $400 million solar farm in the Burdekin Shire on Thursday, after calling in the project late August due to delays at a local government level after a prior shire council approval was appealed by the local sugar milling company, Wilmar Sugar.
"This is a decision that future generations of energy-conscious Queenslanders will thank us for," she told parliament.
Burdekin Shire Council Mayor, Bill Lowis, welcomed the decision saying, “This is great news for us and supports Council’s decision to approve the project”. According to Lowis the project, if it went ahead, would support economic development in the shire.
