Victorian Labor has wasted no time in gaining the upper hand in the state election, releasing a new campaign video featuring dramatic voice overs, grainy footage and former Liberal Prime Ministers.

The video, published by Labor on Tuesday – the same day the writs were issued for November’s state election – includes videos of Tony Abbott, Scott Morrison and Victorian opposition leader Matthew Guy using the phrase “real solutions”.

“Real solutions” is then repeated in a slow, mechanical voice, while the video itself is almost entirely in black and white.

“Real solutions for all Victorians,” has been a slogan adopted by Matthew Guy in his quest to unseat Victorian Premier Dan Andrews on November 26.

It also includes a short clip of Mr Abbott, who was Prime Minister from 2013 to 2015, before he was deposed by Malcolm Turnbull, being interviewed by ABC journalist Fran Kelly.

“Now the truth of this budget is the load falls heaviest on the poorest,” Kelly tells Abbott during the interview.

The campaign video also features Scott Morrison’s infamous “I don’t hold a hose, mate” comment made during the 2019 bushfire crisis.

In one of the final frames of the ad, Matthew Guy says “I’m Matt Guy and I promise to deliver real solutions” before that phrase is again repeated in dramatic slow motion.

Last week, posters appeared in Melbourne supporting Andrews, despite labelling him a “p***k”.

The posters, authorised by the CFMEU union, said: “Dan might be a p***k, but he’s a p***k whose delivering for construction workers”.

“Labor will keep you in work for another 30 years,” the ad says, highlighting $110 billion in construction projects committed to by the Andrews government.

The Victorian Liberal Party did not respond to NCA NewsWire on Tuesday.
