Beauty clinic founder pays tribute to husband found stabbed to death outside luxury home

By Lauren Ironmonger

Norwegian-born beauty entrepreneur Gry Susann Tomte has paid tribute to her husband after he was found stabbed to death in the front garden of their luxury home on Queensland’s Sunshine Coast.

A neighbour found the body of Tomte’s husband, Zdravko (Zed) Bilic, 57, about 7.30pm on Monday in the Sunshine Coast suburb of Warana.

“He was the kindest, gentlest person I’ve ever known,” Tomte told 9News. “Loved by everyone who ever had the fortune of meeting him,” she said.

Tomte was away from the home at the time of Bilic’s death and had asked a neighbour to check up on him after not having heard from him for some time. The neighbour found him dead about 7.30pm on Monday. Police believe he was killed some 20 hours before he was found.

She is the founder of HUD, a high-end skin and beauty clinic with locations in the Melbourne suburbs of St Kilda and Northcote. The clinics’ offerings include laser treatments, peels, clinical facials and skin needling, with prices ranging from around $50 to upwards of $500.

“HUD is an award-winning skin clinic, based in Melbourne. It’s the Scandi, minimalist brainchild of Norwegian skin expert Gry Tomte,” the company’s website reads.

Tomte studied at The University of Oslo and started her beauty empire later in life in 2017 – an idea sparked by her visits to a beautician in Canada.

She trained with the beautician before working as a waxer and nail artist, eventually starting her own business. Tomte also worked as a high-performance coach, giving business advice to other entrepreneurs, and was slated to speak at the Brisbane Aesthetic Summit on July 21, according to Instagram.

Tomte often shared glimpses into her lavish life with Bilic on her personal and professional social media pages.

In September last year, Bilic appeared in a video on HUD’s Instagram page, applying some of the brand’s skincare products.

“I grew up without a father for a lot of my life but have really beautiful memories of when he was still with me – a man who encouraged me to live in a world of magic and wonder,” the caption read.

“I know how important it is to celebrate our fathers but also allow space to celebrate the men in our life who are fill-in fathers grandfathers and fur fathers. Mr HUD is the most incredible man and fur father I could ever ask for.”

August 2025 would have been the couple’s 20th wedding anniversary.

Tomte did not respond to a request for comment.
