It's goodbye A. Baker, hello Morning Glory in New Acton
There's a big change coming to New Acton's dining scene, with long-standing eatery A. Baker closing.
The restaurant has confirmed their final day of trade with be May 31.
A. Baker opened in September 2013, replacing the space formerly occupied by Flint which was destroyed by fire in 2011, with a big focus on supporting local growers and producers - plenty of their produce even comes from their own gardens in the courtyard outside the restaurant.
A. Baker's departure will make way for Morning Glory, a new breakfast haunt from the team behind XO in Narrabundah - Anand Ramakrishna, Greg Lally, Kent Nhan and Stephane Nguyen.
While XO is all about the long lunch, dinner and nightcaps, Morning Glory will, as the name suggests, focus on daylight dining.
Lally said a lot of the early planning for XO went on around the breakfast table, so the team has always loved the idea of opening an early morning spot.
Morning Glory will share a bit of the DNA of XO - expect a menu that blends Australian and south east Asian morning cuisines, quality produce, the team's signature quirky and surprising style, and a playlist that always manages to find a spot for Madonna.
The team is tight-lipped on what they're doing with the A. Baker space, but like XO, it will be designed by Capezio Copeland.
Morning Glory is expected to open at the start of spring 2018.
