Good Food Guide 2022: The It List - cool hunting in Melbourne
Hot new Melbourne spots to see and be seen.
Auterra
This snacks-only wine bar is led by Clinton McIver from fine dining powerhouse Amaru, so you know you're in safe hands. The details are spot-on, with polished stemware, elegant design and a 13-page wine list. Embark on a "snackustation" and bounce from a panko-crumbed prawn and kimchi sandwich to an earthy shiitake soft-serve sundae.

Entrecote
The French funhouse (pictured top) has upped sticks from South Yarra to a new flagship on Greville Street. The menu hits the same bistro sweet spots: steak frites with Cape Grim porterhouse and secret herb butter sauce, freshly shucked oysters and toffee-topped creme brulee. With space for 200, it's primed for a party.

Nomad
After four years of rumours, this cult Sydney restaurant has opened its Melbourne outpost at the former Ezard at Adelphi site. The narrow space has been updated into a moody 100-seater, with chef Jacqui Challinor's wood-fired Mediterranean menu featuring stretched-to-order flatbread and crisp-skinned suckling pork.

Hope St Radio
What started as a community radio station is now a thriving bar-restaurant for the bright young things of the inner north. Ellie Bouhadana's warm Mediterranean menu features handmade pastas and snacky charcuterie to match the on-trend drinks. The Collingwood Yards arts precinct also features a new rooftop bar, Runner Up, with one of the city's best views.

Manze
This 25-seat natural wine bar from Mauritius-born Nagesh Seethiah (ex-Bar Liberty, pictured above with wine gun Moira Tirtha and sous chef Jack Short) built a following in lockdown with popular pop-ups introducing in-the-know diners to the Indian and East African accents of Mauritian cuisine. Seethiah presents the recipes of his childhood with a modern edge, including barramundi samosas and vindaye, fried fish pickled with turmeric and mustard seeds.
