Washington | At Independence Day celebrations this week, embattled US President Joe Biden will likely declare that his administration is winning the fight against inflation.

He is partially right in that the rate of inflation has started to ease and, at least in the nation’s capital of Washington, the cost of what the Biden administration thought in 2021 was an affordable Independence Day barbecue for 10 people has dipped 6.3 per cent in the last year, according to The Australian Financial Review’s analysis.
