What Kissinger told Rudd before flying to China
Washington | Kevin Rudd, who dined with Henry Kissinger this year before he flew to China, said the US statesman’s visit to Beijing was instrumental in setting up a new and improved phase in relations between the two superpowers.
The former prime minister, now Australia’s ambassador to the US, said Kissinger, who died on Wednesday (Thursday AEDT) at the age of 100, spoke of the need for old-fashioned diplomacy when dealing with China-US relations, during the dinner at Kissinger’s home.
