US public backs AUKUS despite Congress concern

London, Washington | The American public strongly backs the AUKUS pact despite Congress’s bitter wrangling over whether the deal will sap US finances and defence capabilities, according to new polling research from Lynton Crosby’s CT Group.

CT Group’s findings follow a US Congressional Budget Office report issued late on Friday (Saturday AEDT) that could boost Australia’s chances of winning US lawmakers’ support to acquire two Virginia class submarines as part of the AUKUS deal.
