Trump pauses Mexico-Canada tariffs but no aluminium exemptions

Washington | President Donald Trump on Thursday (Friday AEDT) postponed 25 per cent tariffs on many imports from Mexico and some from Canada in a major climbdown from his aggressive trade agenda that has whipsawed financial markets.

In the second turnaround in two days, the US president signed an executive order saying that all goods that met the rules of a 2020 free trade deal with the US’ neighbours would be granted a one-month reprieve from the duties.
