Apollo boss emerges as top contender for Treasury secretary

Washington | President-elect Donald Trump has chosen billionaire investor and cryptocurrency enthusiast Howard Lutnick to run his commerce department, a central pick in an administration almost certain to be shaped by sweeping tariff hikes.
Mr Lutnick, head of brokerage and investment bank Cantor Fitzgerald, was shortlisted to become treasury secretary with backing from Elon Musk.
