• The House voted to demand that Vice-President Mike Pence use the Constitution's 25th Amendment to remove Donald Trump from office, a largely symbolic act leading up to a vote on Wednesday (Thursday AEDT) to impeach the president for a second time.
• Pence said every American was "shocked and saddened" by the riots in the Capitol last week but that does not justify removing Trump.
• Trump dismissed Democrat moves to impeach him if the 25th amendment bid fails as a hoax.
• Three Republicans in the House have now announced they will vote to impeach Donald Trump, cleaving the leadership of the President's party.
• Trump visited the US-Mexico border in Texas trumpeting one of the pillars of his presidency: his campaign against illegal immigration and building a wall along the southern border.
• Top US officials abruptly cancelled international travel this week out of concern foreign adversaries could exploit a historic political crisis.
• YouTube suspended President Donald Trump from uploading new videos to his official account for at least a week.
