Harris, under Trump’s skin, comes out on top
The Vice President was far more effective, better rehearsed, and barely stumbled with detailed answers that helped show up Donald Trump’s shortcomings.
Washington | Given her background as a courtroom prosecutor, you could hardly call it beginner’s luck, but it was Vice President Kamala Harris’ first presidential debate and Donald Trump’s seventh – and she came away the winner.
With only one pre-recorded interview under her belt, pressure was on Harris to show voters who she really was. And after backflips on issues as varied as fossil fuel production and immigration, she also had to lay out policy positions more clearly while distancing herself from the unpopular President Joe Biden.
