'Get your knee off our necks': Floyd memorial demands historic change
Minneapolis | George Floyd's memorial service brought calls for sweeping change in America as the Reverend Al Sharpton called his death emblematic of oppression black people have faced since the nation's founding and announced a new March on Washington reminiscent of Martin Luther King jnr's historic action.
The service – the first in a series of formal memorials set for three cities over six days – unfolded at a sanctuary at North Central University as a judge a few blocks away set bail at $US750,000 ($1 million) each for the three fired Minneapolis police officers charged with aiding and abetting murder in Mr Floyd's death.
