Three months ago my wife and I took a decision none of our neighbours in suburban Maryland could make: send our daughters, aged 11 and 14, back into a classroom.
The two of them have both just finished their third week at school in Canberra, having left the US last month for two weeks of quarantine in a hotel in Sydney.
