Washington | US President Joe Biden avoided a leadership revolt on Tuesday (Wednesday AEST) after Democrats seeking to replace him as their nominee in this year’s election fell well short of gaining the support they needed at a meeting just hours before the president welcomed world leaders to the capital.
After a two-hour House caucus meeting, Democrats failed to reach a consensus on whether to back a determined Mr Biden at the top of the ticket following his disastrous debate last month with rival Donald Trump.
