Toronto | Canada's embattled finance minister resigned from cabinet and from Parliament on Monday (Tuesday AEST), following reports of clashes with Justin Trudeau and amid an ethics controversy involving a charity with close ties to him and the Prime Minister.
The resignation of Bill Morneau comes as Canada tries to climb out of a pandemic-induced economic downturn that has pushed unemployment higher and resulted in a projected budget deficit of $US260 billion ($360 billion).
