Biden says ‘order must prevail’ as US college arrests top 2000

Washington | US President Joe Biden denounced violence and antisemitism that have erupted on university campuses across America during escalating protests against Israel’s war in Gaza, but ruled out sending in the National Guard to restore order.

Breaking days of silence on Thursday (Friday AEST) over the sometimes violent clashes on campuses, Mr Biden defended the right to peaceful dissent but said the protesters had gone too far, as universities continued to struggle to regain control of their campuses.
