Biden edges ahead as Trump rails against postal count

Key Points

  • Joe Biden has won Wisconsin and leads in Michigan.
  • If he can win both and hold Arizona and Nevada, also regarded as tight, he will become president.
  • Donald Trump has launched court action to stop the count in Michigan.

Washington | Joe Biden has edged ahead of Donald Trump in two tight rust belt battleground states critical to determining the 2020 race as the President doubled down his attacks against mail-in vote counts and threatened lawsuits.

In Wisconsin, Mr Biden leads by just over 20,000 votes out of more than 3.2 million cast, or 95 per cent of the expected vote, according to The Associated Press. Both AP and CNN on Wednesday (Thursday AEDT) declared Mr Biden the winner.
