Palestine’s envoy in Canberra is urging Foreign Minister Penny Wong to demand Israel set a timetable for a two-state solution or else Australia will recognise Palestinian statehood, when she travels to the Middle East next week in a bid to bolster peace talks.

Izzat Abdulhadi, the head of the General Delegation of Palestine to Australia, said Senator Wong should draw on Australia’s close ties with the US to urge the Biden administration to support an immediate ceasefire to Israel’s bombardment of Gaza.
