International court has received $50m from Australian taxpayers

An Australian withdrawal from the International Criminal Court would deprive the world’s “court of last resort” of one of its most generous benefactors, with taxpayers funnelling almost $50 million to the body over the past five years.

As Anthony Albanese faces a deepening political row over his refusal to condemn the court for pursuing Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu, former PM Scott Morrison weighed in to say the ICC had “jumped the shark”, and called Australia’s membership into question.
