Kyiv | To rescue his failing invasion, a frustrated Vladimir Putin is turning to Russia’s great historic ally: winter.

By deploying “General Frost” – the nickname for the frigid cold that defeated Hitler and Napoleon – Putin’s strategy is clear: shut off or sabotage gas flows to Europe as demand surges while recharging depleted battlefront units in Ukraine via an increasingly unpopular troop mobilisation.
