Washington | US President Donald Trump said he would speak with President Vladimir Putin of Russia on Tuesday about the war in Ukraine, noting that there had already been discussions about “dividing up certain assets” as he continued to express some optimism that Moscow would agree to a ceasefire proposal.

“We want to see if we can bring that war to an end,” Trump told reporters aboard Air Force One on Sunday evening (Monday AEDT). “Maybe we can. Maybe we can’t, but I think we have a very good chance.”
