London | The Scottish city of Glasgow is poised to host a pared-back Commonwealth Games in 2026, picking up the mantle – and some money – from Australia, after then-Victorian premier Daniel Andrews bailed out in July last year.
The Australian Commonwealth Games Association has reportedly pledged about $4.5 million to help Scotland put on a smaller tournament, paid out of the compensation it received from the Victorian government.
