Russia moves Navalny from Moscow jail, possibly to prison
Authorities have taken Russian opposition leader Alexey Navalny from his Moscow jail, his lawyer said, possibly transferring him to a prison to serve a two-and-a-half-year sentence.
Navalny was removed from his Moscow jail cell on Thursday but neither his family or his lawyers have been informed of his final destination, a top aide, Leonid Volkov, said on Twitter. Russian prison authorities typically don’t notify lawyers or family members where inmates are being transferred until they arrive, sometimes after days in transit.
