London Underground at risk of going down the tube
London | London’s transport network of Tube lines and red buses could be plunged into “managed decline”, as Prime Minister Boris Johnson and the capital’s Labour mayor, Sadiq Khan, squabble over a pandemic-related funding crisis.
Transport for London faces an “existential” £1.5 billion ($2.9 billion) budget shortfall by 2024-25 after revenue collapsed during two years of lockdowns and home-working, forcing Mr Khan and TfL to draw up emergency measures.
