I’m waiting for Bill Browder, the Russia-focused investor turned crusading anti-Putin campaigner, at a relaxed, airy and relatively anonymous outlet of the London Turkish restaurant chain Haz. He has scheduled it for the unusual-but-not-too-unusual time of 1pm.
He arrives bang on the hour, and sits down. As I switch on my voice recorder I ask him offhandedly why he’s chosen this restaurant, whether he comes here often. His answer catches me off guard.
