Britain scraps AstraZeneca jabs for the under-30s on blood clot fears
London | Britain’s drug regulator has told Prime Minister Boris Johnson’s government to use vaccines other than AstraZeneca for people aged under 30, as the agency and its European counterpart confirmed the possibility that blood clotting is a rare side effect.
The “course correction” from Britain’s Medicine and Health products Regulatory Agency (MHRA) throws a spanner into the back end of Britain’s vaccination program, which relies heavily on AstraZeneca – and may complicate Australia’s vaccine rollout.
