Britain eyes off North Sea oil and gas to fight energy crisis
London | Britain will ramp up exploration in its North Sea oil and gas fields if Liz Truss becomes prime minister next week, signalling a potential break with Boris Johnson’s focus on ditching fossil fuels for renewable energy.
British media reports said Ms Truss, the favourite to win the Conservative Party leadership contest when the result is announced on Monday, would approve new oil and gas drilling licences almost as soon as she entered Downing Street.
