A Holocaust survivor worries about the ‘never’ in ‘never again’

Bob Narev has been telling the story of his childhood escape from the Nazis for years, but he’s still learning about the ‘devil’s deal’ that saved his life.

The New York Times story on February 8, 1945, is four paragraphs. It’s tucked next to an advertisement for raincoats and a Quaker dress. The headline says: “First Jewish Convoy Reaches Swiss Haven.”

“A convoy of 1200 Jewish refugees from the Theresienstadt concentration camp arrived at Kreuzlingen today following negotiations by Jean Marie Musy, former Swiss Federal Counselor, with Heinrich Himmler.”
