Sydney | China’s President Xi Jinping met with elite tech entrepreneurs on Monday in a strong show of public support for the sector, as Beijing tries to bolster its sluggish economy amid escalating trade tensions with Washington.
Xi delivered a speech in the Great Hall of the People in Beijing to assembled tech bosses including Alibaba co-founder Jack Ma and Huawei Technologies founder Ren Zhengfei, key figures in China’s ambition to reduce reliance on American technology, according to state media.
