Singapore | Malaysia’s king Sultan Abdullah Sultan Ahmad Shah was expected to confirm the country’s third new prime minister in less than four years, with former deputy PM Ismail Sabri Yaakob taking the top job.
The ascension will mark a turnaround in the Perikatan Nasional coalition that has ruled for the last 18 months, with Mr Ismail, an UMNO vice-president, taking over from the Bersatu party’s Muhyiddin Yassin.
