Tagum/ Philippines | If Ferdinand “Bongbong” Marcos jnr is elected president of the Philippines on Monday, 36 years after his dictator father was forced into exile, it will be because of voters like Marie Lin Pepito.

The 64-year-old grandmother is a big fan of the current president, Rodrigo Duterte, and his daughter, Sara Duterte, who hopes to become vice president next week. President Duterte’s win six years ago was the first election shock of 2016, followed by the Brexit vote in the United Kingdom and Donald Trump’s victory in November that year.
