Productivity Commission says transparency needed on trade deals
Before the end of the year, the Productivity Commission is due to report on how investment barriers may be stifling growth in Australian services exports.
The commission has had much to say lately on foreign investment and trade, and not all of it has been encouraging. Recently when its annual report was tabled in Parliament, it reiterated its criticism that there was insufficient transparency and robust analysis around existing free trade agreements, in particular the Trans-Pacific Partnership and the Japan FTA.
