Campaigning can be a noisy affair in Japan, while from Australia the electoral commission may end up quietening a few expatriate voices.

Tokyo | I don’t have a vote, neither in the country where I live nor in Australia, where I was born.

To be able to vote in Japan, I would have to become a naturalised Japanese citizen, and that means giving up my Australian citizenship and I don’t see myself doing that.
