South Korea’s leaders seek calm after president impeached
Seoul | South Korea’s acting president moved quickly on Sunday to reassure the country’s allies and calm financial markets one day after President Yoon Suk Yeol was impeached and suspended from his duties over a martial law attempt.
Acting president Han Duck-soo spoke with US President Joe Biden by phone on the issue, while South Korea’s opposition leader also offered on Sunday to work with the government to ease the political tumult from the attempted power grab.
