The value of small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs) to the exporting effort can be dramatic, with the latest statistics showing that 70 per cent of growth in Australian exporters in the 2014 financial year, was attributable to SMEs.

And of the 2788 services exporters in 2013-14, 1662 of them were in the "less than $1 million" value range, according to the Australian Bureau of Statistics.
