Tokyo | As nations and investors brace for Donald Trump’s sweeping new tariffs that could ignite a full-blown global trade war, one of his likely biggest targets is holding its nerve.

China has been reducing its trading dependence on the United States since the last tariff war with Trump five years ago. Far from crippling the world’s second-largest economy, Washington’s aggressive trade measures have been a catalyst for Beijing to accelerate domestic economic reforms, say experts.
