‘Old friend’: Indonesia’s Prabowo meets Xi in first foreign trip
Beijing | Indonesian President-elect Prabowo Subianto pledged to strengthen his country’s already close ties with China after meeting President Xi Jinping in Beijing on his first foreign trip since his election victory in February.
Mr Prabowo, who will succeed Joko Widodo in October, chose Beijing for his first visit in a symbolic showing of continued good relations, amid rising tensions in the region over China’s territorial expansion and resource grabbing in the South China Sea.
