Tokyo | When Softbank founder and enigmatic chair Masayoshi Son took the stage in Tokyo on Thursday, he received something akin to a hero’s welcome.

Storming applause broke out across the company’s product conference, SoftBank World 2024, as the diminutive figure strode across the stage waving to the 2000 people packed into the Prince Hotel.
